Mookie Betts — a Clerihew

Standard

Mookie Betts
Don’t play for the Mets
My father comments on your name
Every single Red Sox game

A clerihew is a biographical poem that pokes fun at a celebrity. The poem consists of two rhyming couplets of unequal length, and the first line is always the subject’s name.

I don’t want to start any rumors.

I don’t pay attention to baseball trades.

I know nothing about Mookie Betts except that he has a cool name (which my father likes to comment on).

And, of course, that he plays for the Red Sox.
