At a thrift store a month or so ago, I found a ratty paperback copy of “A Kick in the Head: An Everyday Guide to Poetic Forms” by Paul B. Janeczko.
I’m not the greatest poet, but I love poetry — and I fell in love with this book.
I had also been struggling with writing and love a good challenge, so I challenged myself to write one of each of the poetic forms found in the book. With a few days off here and there, I managed to complete the challenge.
Below is a list of the poetic forms. If you click on them, you’ll find my contribution to that form.
- Double Dactyl
- Elegy — eulogy, elegy — I confess. I don’t know the difference.
- Poem of Address
This was so fun, I may have to try it again sometime.
Next challenge, though, will be a couplet and a photo to go with WordPress’s Daily Prompt.
30 days of cou-PIC-let. Let’s do this.
