Fallopia japonica

Fallopia japonica – your blossoms twinkle brightly

You haven’t won me over though — I still think you’re unsightly

A few summers ago I launched an all-out war on what I called bamboo.

It turns out that it was not bamboo, but rather a plant called Japanese Knotweed.

It also turns out that I was a lone soldier in this battle. Our yard may be clearer, but up and down the road are huge clumps/bushes of the stuff. It’s easy to identify this time of year because of the prolific sprays of white flowers it puts out.

The blossoms make it almost pretty.

But not really.
