Call Me Stunned

Standard

Call me stunned

I had prepared the stoic outfit I would wear
An appropriate pant suit —
A nod to our pant-suited president-elect —
Of gray and stormy blue
Like the ocean we would be sailing
For the next four years

But that ensemble no longer seems right
So I looked in my closet
For something different
But the only clothes that fit this occasion
Are black
The very ones I wore
To my mother’s funeral
